Jan 10, 2009 · 2004 Tahoe LT 5.3 85,000 miles. I am losing coolant fairly quickly. Recently changed thermostat because it was overshooting to about 230 degrees before it would open and cool down. Mechanic did a pressure test and saw no problem. Oil appears uncontaminated. No fliud on garage floor at all. The 5.3 and 6.0 does. This is for the domestic USA market since they have stringent fuel economy guidelines and all the mfrs are trying to get incremental economy in gas mileage. If you took delivery outside the USA, it may not have AFM. Consider yourself lucky if you don't have AFM. That GM forced option is the only reason I haven't bought a ...
